The stock H-D compensator ramp / sliding cam system for the motor sprocket has been a shock absorbing system that is used on H-D models in various configurations for over half a century. It dampens the shocks between the engine sprocket shaft end the primary chain that drives the clutch/transmission. Tough work for sure and for the M8 the first thing to fail on the sprocket shaft. The S&S compensator ramp is a direct replacement Heavy Duty upgrade for the standard ramp and offers more reliability over more kilometers / miles.
