fits  58-64 Big Twin, XL Sportster (NU)

OEM reproduction for stock restorations. USA made. OEM replacement for 29975-58B. Will also fit 36-64 H-D, but when replacing 3 brush generators use H-D #31035-58 (MCS 555773) oil deflector and discard spring and old deflector. Tech tip: Generator polarizing. With the motor off connect the ‘F’ terminal to ground and momentarily flash the ‘A’ terminal with positive. Remove ground from ‘F’ terminal. If you have properly installed a working regulator it will turn on and ground the ‘F’ terminal in which case you will not need to use an external ground. Caution! Do not flash the ‘F’ terminal. This will damage the regulator. Do not connect the battery to the Field (F terminal) as this will polarize the generator backwards. Generators in general don’t forget their polarization so it is not necessary to polarize a generator from Cycle Electric Inc. unless it was connected to a battery backwards or inadvertently polarized backwards after it left the factory. Only after a long time period generators can struggle to come up and polarization can be a good idea.

Black replacement 2-brush generator, to replace the non-available OEM 3-brush generators. OEM replacement reference 29975-30, 1501-30. Note: The 2-brush generators will function, but you will need to replace the stock cut-out meganical regulator with a electronic regulator, like 506004.
